Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka Scholarship

The below-mentioned eligibility is required for the below-mentioned scholarship schemes of Karnataka. These scholarships are available for the students who are the domicile of Karnataka state. Each scholarship has its own eligibility criteria which must be fulfilled by the applying candidate in order to avail the benefits of scholarship /fellowship.

National Overseas Scholarship for Minority
  • The mentioned scholarship is applicable to only the students who are the domicile of Karnataka.
  • They must belong to the Minority community, viz. Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Parsis
  • The candidates maximum age should be 38 years from the start of the application.
  • Candidates must have scored 60% or its equivalent marks in the previous exam.
  • This scholarship is given for elective courses only.
Scheme of Overseas Scholarships for SC/ST students, Karnataka
  • Students must be the Domicile of Karnataka.
  • The scholarship is available for the students belonging to SC/ST community
  • To apply for the same, the applicant must have an Admission letter for PG or above courses from any reputed university from worldwide.
  • Study Courses: Humanities, Pure Sciences & applied sciences, International Commerce, Agriculture Sciences & Medicines, Engineering & Management, Social Science & Law, Accounting Finance, etc.
  • The candidate’s maximum age should be 35 years as on 1st June of every year.
  • Candidates must have scored 60% or its equivalent grade in the previous exam.
Research Guidance Ph.D. Fellowship for Backward Classes
  • Candidate must be the Domicile of Karnataka.
  • The candidate’s maximum age should be 35 years.
  • The candidates engaged in a full-time Ph.D. program under research guidance from a university or institution of Karnataka can apply.
  • Candidates must have scored 55% or its equivalent grade in the master’s degree program.
  • Candidate must also meet the income criteria fixed for the same.
Incentive for SSLC & 2nd PUC students, Karnataka
  • Candidate must be the domicile of Karnataka.
  • Candidate must have passed Class X or Class XII with having a minimum of 85% marks or above.
  • Only the Minority community students, ie. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Sikhs are eligible to apply.
  • You must have passed class 10th or 12th with 85% marks or above.
Pre Matric Scholarship for Minorities
  • Only the Minority community students, ie. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Sikhs are eligible to apply.
  • The students who are domicile of Karnataka but studying in some other state are eligible to apply.
  • The students belonging to other states who are studying in Karnataka cannot apply for the same.
  • Candidates must have scored more than 50% or its equivalent grade in the previous exam.
  • The candidate’s family income must not exceed Rs. One Lac (1,00,000) from all sources.
Post Matric Scholarship for Minorities
  • The student must be the domicile of Karnataka.
  • Only the Minority community students, ie. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Sikhs are eligible to apply.
  • The students of class 11th to Ph.D. level are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have scored more than 50% or its equivalent grade in the previous exam.
  • Candidates’ family annual income must not exceed Rs. Two Lac (2,00,000) from all sources.
Merit cum Means Scholarship for Minorities
  • The student must be the domicile of Karnataka.
  • Only the Minority community students, ie. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Sikhs are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates’ family annual income must not exceed Rs. Two Lac Fifty Thousand (2,50,000) from all sources.
  • The student must be pursuing graduation / post-graduation in a professional/technical stream.
  • Candidates must have scored more than 50% or its equivalent grade in the previous exam.
MPhil and Ph.D. Fellowship for Minority students
  • The student must be the domicile of Karnataka.
  • Only the Minority community students, ie. Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Sikhs are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates’ family annual income must not exceed Rs. Six Lacs (6,00,000) from all sources.
  • The candidate’s maximum age should be 35 years.
Samagra Shikshana Karnataka Fellowship
  • The student must be the domicile of Karnataka.
  • The candidate’s maximum age should be 35 years.
  • To be eligible, the candidate must have a regular postgraduate or professional or any other degree in Social Science or Public Policy.
  • Applying candidates must have three to ten years of work experience.
  • Candidate must demonstrate an excellent professional and academic track record.
  • Candidate must have good communication skills in writing, verbal, and presentation.
  • He/she must be proficient in English and Kannada.
Karnataka Scholarship Award Benefits

Hereunder we are giving you the details that what are financial benefits or awards that students can avail by this Karnataka scholarship. The government provides these benefits in the form of a concession intuition/admission fee/both. Some awards include cash reward. All these benefits are based on the eligibility of the candidate. The selection criteria of some scholarship are based on the merit or basis of means. The details hereunder:-

National Overseas Scholarship for Minority Students
  • The scholarship shall be given for 2 years of period.
  • The scholarship covers up to Rs. Twenty Lacs (20,00,000) per annum
  • It also covers the living expenses, cost of the course, and one side Airfare.
Scheme of Overseas Scholarships for SC/ST students, Karnataka
  • Maintenance Allowance up to Rs. Six Lacs (6,00,000) per annum.
  • Contingency Allowance up to Rs. Seventy-Five Thousand (75,000)
  • Actual tuition fee (as charged)
  • It also covers actual Visa Fees
  • Airfare shall also be given to the student from India to the country where the student is studying and return to India.
Research Guidance Ph.D. Fellowship for Backward Classes
  • Selected students will be provided at Rs. Five Thousand (5000) per month.
Incentive for SSLC & 2nd PUC students, Karnataka
  • Selected students shall be provided with a One-time Incentive of Rs. 10000 (Ten Thousand) to SSLC students and Rs. 20000 (Twenty Thousand) to 2nd PUC students.
Pre Matric Scholarship for Minorities
  • Selected students will be provided with the following benefits :

Merit cum Means Scholarship for Minorities
  • The selected students of minority communities shall be given scholarships up to Rs. Thirty Thousand (30,000).
MPhil and Ph.D. Fellowship for Minority students
  • Under this fellowship program, the students will be provided with Fellowship up to Rs. Twenty Five Thousand (25,000) per month.
  • Contingency Grant of Rs. Ten Thousand (10,000) per annum.
Samagra Shikshana Karnataka Fellowship
  • For the fellowship period, selected fellows will get a monthly allowance of Rs. Seventy Thousand (70,000)
