Kerala Scholarship 2023 – List, Last Date, and Official Website: One of the most developed educational systems in India is in Kerala. The literacy rate is much higher than the national average. Primary education is compulsory between 6 and 11 years old. It has primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, polytechnic and industrial training institutes, arts, science, and vocational colleges. Kerala University, Calicut University, Sri Shankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kannur University, Mahatma Gandhi University and Sri Chitra Thirunal Institute for Medical Science and Technology are also located here.
There are medical colleges at Kannur, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Alappuzha, and Thiruvananthapuram; There is an Ayurvedic college at Ollur, Kottakkal, Tripunithura and Thiruvananthapuram and a dental college at Kozhikode. There are engineering colleges at Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Adoor, Kasaragod, Kochi, Kollam, Kannur, Thrissur, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Thiruvananthapuram. The level of health services in the state is relatively high. Examples such as the elaborate health insurance scheme for factory workers and free medical care are found in many hospitals, health centers, and dispensaries.
Kerala has a higher literacy rate of 90.92 percent (2001 census), compared to the all-India 65.38 percent. Among the districts in Kerala, Kottayam district has the highest literacy rate of 95.90 percent and Pallakad has the lowest literacy rate of 84.31 percent. Regional and gender discrimination in literacy rates are lowest in Kerala. Infrastructure created under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the district primary education program, and the contribution of local governments have contributed to the improvement of facilities. There are seven universities and two honorary universities in Kerala. There has been a huge increase in the number of technical education institutes in Kerala in the last 5 years.

There has been a considerable increase in the number of colleges and universities in the ‘higher education system’ compared to the time of the formation of the state in Kerala. There are 7 universities and 2 honorary schools in this system. The main sources of income of the University of Kerala are plan and non-plan grants from the state government. The plan expenditure of the university was Rs 11014.6 lakh in 2003-04 which increased to Rs 12858.1 lakh in 2004-05.
Professional higher secondary education was introduced in the state with the objective of generating more employment opportunities by creating more skilled and employment-oriented manpower. Initially, the course was started in 1983-84 in 19 government schools. The sanctioned student number in 2004-05 was 26874 and the actual number of students was 25382. A higher secondary course was introduced in the state to recognize secondary level education as per the National Education Policy. In the first phase, during 1990-91 the status of 31 government schools was raised to a higher secondary school. The grading system has been introduced at the higher secondary level from the academic year 2005-06.
