Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has sought applications for the KVPY Fellowship Scheme 2023. KVPY is a national-level fellowship/scholarship program that is organized every year. Under this scheme, the Government of India gives scholarships to schools and graduate students for research in the field of science. The fellowship is funded by the Department of Science and Technology and administered by the Indian Institute of Science.

KVPY Scholarship 2023

The main purpose of this scheme is to discover talented students and encourage them to pursue a career in research in basic science. This program helps students identify their talents and prepares the country’s best qualifications for research and development. Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India has given all the responsibilities of organizing and implementing the KVPY program to IISc, Bangalore.

Eligibility Terms

• The most important eligibility for getting this KVPY IISC fellowship / KVPY Scholarship Scheme 2023 is the applicant’s Indian citizen.
•  Apart from this, the other important qualification during the selection is the interest of the applicant’s academic excellence and research.
•  On this front, different criteria are set for different category applicants.

For Stream SA- Class 11 Students :

• Such students, who have been admitted in the 11th class with science subjects in the academic session 2023 should be aspiring to join a UG program in Basic Sciences during the academic year 2023-22.
• These students need to get a total of 75% marks in Mathematics and Science subjects in the 10 Cass examination.
• These applicants also scored at least 60% marks in Science in Class 12.
•  SC / ST and Physically Handicapped students get a 10 percent discount.

For Stream SB- Students :

•  Such students, who have been admitted in the first year of study in basic science UG studies in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics & Biology during the academic session 2023.
• These students need to get a total of 60% marks in Mathematics and Science subjects in the 12 Class examination. (10 % concession to SC/ST/PH students).
• These students must score a minimum of 60 percent marks in the First-year Final exam of B.Sc./B.S./B.Maths/B.Stat/Int. M.Sc/M.S. (10 % concession to SC/ST/PH students).

For Stream SX: Class 12 Students :

• Similarly, such students must be admitted in Class 12 in Science during the academic year 2023.
• They must be ambitious to join a UG program in Basic Sciences such as BSc / BS / B.Stat/B.Math./Int. M.Sc/ M.S.
•  Class 10:- These students should have obtained a minimum of 75 percent marks in Mathematics and Science (10% rebate for SC/ST/PH students).
• Class 12: These students must have scored a minimum of 60 percent marks in Maths and Science subjects (10 percent rebated for SC/ST/PH students).
• For the students of MSC etc., there are different mandatory educational qualifications set for the students, to know who you can visit KVPY’s website.

Scholarship Amount

​For SA/SX/SB – from 1st to 3rd years of – B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math. / Integrated M.Sc. /M.S.:

• Monthly Fellowship – Rs. 5000
• Annual Contingency Grant – Rs. 20000

For SA/SX/SB – during M. Sc. / 4th to 5th years of Integrated M.Sc. /M.S./M.Math./M.Stat :

• Monthly Fellowship – Rs. 7000
• Annual Contingency Grant – Rs. 28000

Summer Program

KVPY 2023 selected candidates will get a chance to participate in the Summer Program for a week at the Indian Institute for Science Education and Research – Kolkata, Pune, Mohali, Bhopal, and Trivandrum

KVPY Registration

•  The application for KVPY IISC Fellowship 2023 is possible through online medium only.
• The candidates who are interested and eligible for a fellowship scheme can download the application form from the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana website.
•  The Online Application shall be available in the given link http://kvpy.iisc.ernet.in/main/KVPY-Instruction-19.html

Required Documents

The students must upload the below-mentioned documents along with the form to complete the application process of the KVPY Fellowship.

1. The students must upload the scanned image of Photograph and Signature.
2.  Copy of Mark sheet or certificate of the qualifying examination should also be uploaded.
3. Caste Certificate in the prescribed format for SC/ST students
4.  Medical certificate from the authorized authority for PWD Candidates.

Application Fees

1. Apart from the above different category applicants will have to pay the entrance fee.
2. General/Other Backward Classes: Rs. 1000 (Bank charges extra)
3. Scheduled Caste / Scheduled tribe and Disabled category candidates: Rs. 500 (Bank Charges extra)
4. Applicants must pay the application fee only at the KVPY application portal.
5. The payment can be done through Credit card, ATM-Debit Card or Net Banking.
6. Once the application fee submitted successfully, no refund of the application fee will be given.

Download Admit Card

Admit card can be downloaded by the applicants from the second week of October 2023.

Selection Criteria

1. The applicants will have to undergo an aptitude exam. under the prescribed schedule.
2.  This examination is going to be held on 3rd November 2023 for the students enrolled in XI, BSc First Year and XII.
3. Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.
