Tata Innovation FellowshipTata Innovation Fellowship 2023-24  is a highly competitive scheme established by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.  DBT Tata Innovation Fellowship 2023-24  is for scientists with an excellent track record in biological sciences to identify and reward scientists and to find innovative solutions to major problems in healthcare, agriculture and other areas related to life sciences and biotechnology. The main objective of this scheme is to award interdisciplinary work where the major emphasis is on innovation and translation research towards commercialization. This fellowship is to cover all the fields of life sciences and biotechnology including fields related to health care, agriculture, engineering, environmental sciences, etc. that will be covered by this fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria 
  1. Tata Innovation Fellowship is open for Indian nationals who are residing in India.
  2. To be eligible for the fellowship, the applicant should not more than the age of 55 years.
  3. The applying candidates should hold a Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences, Agriculture, Veterinary Science or a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences, Engineering or an equivalent degree in Biotechnology / related areas.
  4. The applicant must have outstanding contributions and publications in a specific area.
  5. The candidate must have a regular permanent position in a University/Institute/Organization and should be engaged in research and development.
  6. If the candidate is availing the benefits of any other fellowship, then he/she will be allowed to opt for only one of the fellowships.
  7. The applicant should have spent at least 5 years in India before applying for the fellowship.
  8. The candidates should have evidence of outstanding track record and a deep commitment to finding innovative solutions to major problems in health care, agriculture and other areas related to life sciences and biotechnology.
Benefits of Fellowship
  • The selected candidates of Tata Innovative Fellowships will be provided with the fellowship amount of Rs. 25000/- per month in addition to regular salary from the host institute.
  • In case, the selected candidates are receiving a salary from the international organization, he will be entitled to a research grant i.e. contingency only.
  • Each selected Fellow will receive a contingency grant of Rs. 6.00 lakh (6,00,000/-) per annum
  • For the expenses on consumables, equipment, international and domestic travel, manpower and other contingent expenditure.
  • The Tata Innovation Fellows would be eligible for another regular research grant through extramural and other research schemes of the Government of India.

Apply for Innovation Fellowship

  1. The application process of the Tata Innovation Fellowship is online which needs to be filled.
  2. Two (2) hard copies of the application form signed by the host institute.
  3. There should be a filled application form with all the required details and documents.
  4. Required documents should be in PDF format.
  5. After all the details in the form and apply.
  6. Application (2 hard copies) duly forwarded by the competent authority of the host Institute should be sent to the below-mentioned address on or before the last date.
  7. A soft copy of the application in the prescribed proforma should be mandatorily submitted online through the DBT e-Promis portal.

Documents Required 

  • A duly signed application/Nomination form
  • Copy of Student’s Birth certificate
  • Copy of B.S.C/MBBS or M.S.C/M.Tech./MD or Ph.D. or Master’s Degree copies
  • List of publications with details comprising of Author, Title, Journal, Volume, Page no. with journal impact factor
  • List of books/reviews written List of patents including applied or filled for and granted
  • Students must submit Summary of the proposed work to be carried out (Not more than 6 pages)
  • Evidence of outstanding track record to find innovative solutions to major problems in healthcare, agriculture and other areas is also required to submit.
