SERB Science and Engineering Research Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India is presenting and inviting the applications from the eligible candidates for National Post-Doctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) 2023.

- The applicant must have obtained Ph.D/M.D/M.S degree from a recognized University. Those who have submitted their PhD/M.D/M.S thesis and are awaiting award of the degree are also eligible to apply. .
- Age relaxation of 5 (five) years will be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged & Women candidates
- NPDF can be availed only once by a candidate in his/her career.
- Mentor must hold a regular academic/research position in a recognized institution in India.Should hold Ph.D. degree in Science or Engineering.
- A mentor shall not have more than two SERB NPDF fellows at any given time.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant who is applying for the said fellowship must be an Indian citizen.
- The applicant’s upper age limit should be 35 years and 5 years of age are relaxed for SC/ST/OBC PH and Female Candidates.
- The applicant must be holding a Ph.D. degree in Science & Engineering or should have an M.D. or M.S. degree in any area of medicine.
SERB Award Money
- The selected candidates for the fellowship can begin the fellowship in any renowned academic institutions, national laboratories and other recognized Research & Development Institute provided that the work done during the fellowship period should not continue on doctoral thesis work.
- The duration of the National Post Doctoral fellowship is 2 years and there is no further provision of further extension and it is purely a temporary assignment.

Selection Process
- The candidates who are applying for National Post-Doctoral Fellowship must require to identify a suitable Mentor under whose guidance the proposed research would be carried out.
- The candidate’s selection will be based on the recommendations of an Expert Committee, constituted by the Board.
- If it is required, the committee will call upon the applicant for a personal interview.
