Raman-Charpak Fellowship Programme 

Raman Charpak Fellowship program is available to a practice Ph.D. program at the renowned university or research institution in India and France. This fellowship program is executed by the Indo French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/ CEFIPRA) which aims to improve the Doctoral skills of Indian and French students by allowing them to perform part of their research work in a university or research institution in India and France. The Indian and France students are entitled to apply to this Indo-French bilateral Fellowship program.

The fellowship is equally funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and the Service for Science and Technology (SST), French Embassy in India, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Development, Government of France.

Raman Charpak Fellowship is Two to Six months program given for pursuing a Ph.D. program at a recognized university or research institution in India and France

The Fellowship is offered in the field of:-

• Atmospheric and Earth Sciences
• Chemical Sciences
• Engineering Sciences
• Life and Medical Sciences
• Biological Sciences
• Material Sciences
• Mathematical and Computational Sciences
• Physical Sciences
• Environmental Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Candidates from India should be an Indian citizen and residing in India.
2.  He/she must have registered for a Ph.D. in a recognized university or research institution in India.
3. Applicants from France must be residing in France and have registered for a Ph.D. in a recognized university or research institution in France.
4. The applicants should hold a Master’s degree in science, technology, or medicine from a recognized University/Institute.
5. The maximum age of the applicant should be 30 years as on April First Week 2023.
6. Students once supported by CEFIPRA, also in the framework of CEFIPRA projects, and students who have a permanent position in institutions/universities are not eligible.
7. The applicant should have prior consent to their Institute / University to apply for a foreign fellowship program.
8. A letter of recommendation from the Ph.D. supervisor in his/her native lab.
9.  A letter of recommendation and agreement from the proposed host supervisor in the fellowship lab

Benefits Provided

• For Indian Fellow:
  The selected candidates from India will receive fellowship Support of 1500 Euros per month for daily expenses, local travel, accommodation charges plus Social Security charges
• For French Fellow:
  The selected candidates of Franc will get fellowship support Rs. 40,000 per month for daily expenses, local travel, etc. plus accommodation charges not exceeding Rs. 45,000 per month.
• The selected candidates will be offered with To and Fro airfare ticket in economy class between India and France
• Insurance coverage (travel & health) wherever is required.
• Any administrative costs for Visa and Registration (if any) will be given to the selected candidates.
• A Fellow may be provided with additional support (up to Euro 500 for Indian Fellows and equivalent support in Indian Rupees for French Fellows) for participating in a Seminar/Workshop during their term of the fellowship and stay in their host countries.
• During the fellowship period of selected candidates, no support will be given to the family members of the candidates.

Required Documents

1. Submit 5 pages long Details description on Research Plan in the prescribed format with giving the title and research work plan explanation of the benefits that the candidate will receive their stay in a proposed research institute or university in France or India.
2. Research Proposal A two pages Curriculum Vitae in the prescribed format with a current photograph and CV should summaries the achievement and research interests.
3. Format of CV

•  A letter of recommendation from the Ph.D. supervisor in his/her native lab
• A letter of recommendation and agreement from the proposed host supervisor in the fellowship lab
• Ph.D. synopsis or summary of Ph.D. work
• Research experience letter
• No Objection Certificate from Head of the Institution
• Scanned copy of Master degree certificate and Ph.D. registration letter
• Scanned copy of valid passport, both front, and back
• A recent photograph of the candidate
