PRS Members of Parliament LAMP Fellowship 2023

The Legislative Assistants to Members of Parliament (LAMP) Fellowship 2023 was started by PRS to select one legislative assistant to work with one MP (Member of Parliament) for a period of (11) eleven months. Throughout their 11 months fellowship, the fellows will have to work closely with the MP and provide extensive research support for their parliamentary work.

The fellows would have to involve in providing research inputs to help MP for fulfilling their parliamentary duties like asking questions, lifting matters of public interest, taking part in policy debates, writing speeches, formulating private member Bills, etc.

Eligibility Criteria

To be a part of LAMP fellowship, students must:

  1. The students must be Indian Citizens.
  2. The student’s age must below 25 years, i.e born on or after June 1, 1994.
  3. The students must have a minimum Bachelor’s Degree in any academic discipline.

Award Amount

The selected candidates of the LAMP fellowship will get a stipend of Rs. Twenty Thousand (20,000/-) per month during the course of the fellowship.

NOTE => LAMP Fellows research topics as diverse as defense, food security, environment, economics, and foreign affairs. Research tasks may include

  • Legislative research
  • Data Analysis
  • Framing parliamentary questions
  • Background research parliamentary debates
  • Research for Standing Committee meetings
  • Drafting Private Member Bills
  • Media-related work including drafting press releases, preparing interventions for TV appearances
  • Research for constituency-related issues
  • Interacting with stakeholders

LAMP Fellows rarely have a “typical” workday. Requests for research may have varying deadlines – ranging from thirty minutes to a couple of days, depending on the specifications of the MP. When Parliament is in session, the workload is likely to be heavier than the time period between sessions.

Selection Process

  1. For the selection of candidates for the LAMP fellowship, a highly competitive process will be applied.
  2. The brilliant, motivated young individuals’ applications will be taken into consideration for the LAMP fellowship.
  3. You are well aware that only Indian citizens are entitled to be a part of the LAMP fellowship.

  5. The candidates should also require to submit a statement of intent on what motivates them to be a LAMP Fellow and a short essay on a policy or legislative issue.

  8. In case of any influence from the candidates for the selection will make disqualification of student.
