MHRD National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) 2023 for SC/ST students

Department of School Education & Literacy, MHRD providing for the National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) for the academic year 2023.  It is one of the Centrally Sponsored Schemes and awarded to the meritorious girl students belonging to Schedule Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities in order to encourage them to continue their studies at the secondary stage.

Eligibility NSP incentive scheme

1. All the girls of Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe, who have passed Class-8 examination are eligible under the NSIGSE.                                                         
2. Those girls, who have passed class 8 examination from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (irrespective of whether they belong to Scheduled Castes or Tribes) and enroll for class 9 in State/UT Government, Government-aided or local body schools.   
3. At the time of admission in class X, the age of girls should be less than 16 years as per the status of March 31.                                                                                 
4. To be eligible for NSIGSE, Girls should be unmarried and should be below 16 years of age, as on 31st March while enrolling in class 9.

The incentive to girl scholarship 2023 Benefits 

• Under the National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education NSIGSE, a fixed amount of Rs. 3000/- is deposited in the name of an eligible unmarried girl student on enrollment in Class 9.                                                                       
• Girls can withdraw this amount with the interest earned on completion of the age of 18 years and on passing Class 10 examination.

National Scheme of Incentive to girl students form and  Application Process 

1. The Online Application for National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education should be submitted on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).                 
2. The application performa has been made available to District Education Officers/ Principals of the schools in hard copy.                                                                  
3. The application form can also be downloaded from the National Scholarship Portal (www.scholarship.gov.in) by the District Education Officer.                                      
4. The performa can be filled up by the student/ school in an excel sheet. The information of all the students of a school will be compiled in an excel sheet and verified by the Principal of the school, which will then be sent to District Education Officers either through mail or in CD and hard copy.                                                                   
5. The mobile number can be given either of the student or parent/guardian/neighbor/friend etc.   
6. The student should provide the Aadhaar Number and in case of not available, the Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID) can be used. The students must have Aadhaar seeded Bank Account number and are to be provided the latest by 31st October 2023 for making disbursement of the scholarship.
