Newton Bhabha Ph.D. Placements Programme 2023:- Newton Bhabha Ph.D. Placements program 2023 is offering by the British Council India, Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Department of Biotechnology (DBT) jointly. This is a short-term (2-4 months) (take place between April 2021 and December 2021) Ph.D. placements for Indian and UK Ph.D. scholars in order to spend a period of their study at UK or Indian higher education or research institutions.
DST and DBT invite the applications in STEM and Life Sciences subjects including the Grand Challenges areas and underpinning capabilities identified by the UK-India Task Force on Science and Innovation, which are mentioned below.

- Biological and medical sciences – This includes Life sciences, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Pharma, and Veterinary Sciences.
- Engineering Physical and space sciences – This includes Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Physical Mathematics, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences.
- Environment Food and Agriculture sciences
- Public health and well-being

Eligibility Criteria for Newton Bhabha Ph.D. Placement Programme 2023:
- For this program, the applications are invited from Ph.D. scholars from India and UK in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Life Sciences.
- In the UK, The scheme is open only for UK scholars pursuing their Ph.D. at a UK higher education institution.
- In India, The scheme is open only for Indian scholars enrolled at Indian higher education institutions with the following criteria.
- INSPIRE Ph.D. Senior Research Fellows (SRFs) of Batch 2017 are eligible to apply for a STEM subject.
- Ph.D. Scholar who is pursuing a Ph.D. in the mid-second or third year of Life sciences is eligible to apply.
- ICSSR Doctoral Fellows or registered Ph.D. scholars (full time) studying in the second or third year of Social Sciences are eligible to apply.
Newton Bhabha Ph.D. Placements Programme 2023 Benefits Provided :
- The selected candidates of Newton Bhabha Ph.D. Placements program will be provided with the Visa fees, Economy Class international airfare along with overseas medical insurance incurred by Ph.D. scholarship.
- In-country costs including accommodation and stipend for Ph.D. scholars
- Bench Fees ( if applied for) by UK Host university.
Application Process for Newton Bhabha Ph.D. Placements Programme 2023 :
- In order to apply for the Ph.D. Placements program, the Ph.D. scholar needs to submit the application along with an endorsement from both the sending and receiving supervisors with the latter’s confirmation that they will host the Ph.D. scholar.
- Duration of the stay and level of bench fees they will charge.
