Minority Scholarship Scheme 2020The objective of the Minority Scholarship 2023 is to provide scholarships to meritorious students of the economically weaker sections of the minority community so that they can be provided with better higher education opportunities so that they can gain employment. The Minority Scholarship Scheme 2023-24 was announced in 2006 by the central government.

This scholarship program was announced for the welfare of minorities under the Ministry of Welfare, Government of India and implemented from June 2006 to focus more on education-related issues to minorities. Its purpose is to review the overall policy and planning, coordination, evaluation, and regulatory framework and to simplify development programs for the benefit of minority communities.

The important objective of the new program is that the benefits of various government schemes made for the poor should reach the people in the disadvantage of the minority communities.

About Scholarship

All Minority categories will get the benefit of these schemes equally and these new programs have been decided to conduct certain development projects in the areas of minorities only. It also said that 15 percent of the target and outlay should be fixed for minorities under various schemes where possible.

Scholarships are awarded to students who did not score less than 50 percent in their pre-final examination. The income limit is Rs 1 lakh for their parents/guardians (annual income) from all sources. 30% of the scholarships have been earmarked for girl students.

If the appropriate number of eligible girls is not available, then the remaining scholarships from the stipulated ones should be given to the eligible students. The number of scholarships available for minorities in the year is limited and fixed. Poverty must be emphasized instead of priority marks for selection.

Terms & Conditions

It has now been made mandatory for minority students to impose income proof in the Central Government Scholarship Scheme. Till now, there was no indispensability of income certificate in the scholarship schemes of the Central Government. The scheme is focused for increasing opportunities for education, ensuring equal share for minorities in economic activities and employment through current and new schemes, increase credit assistance for self-employment and recruitment in state and central government jobs and to improve the livelihood of minorities by giving them a fair share in infrastructural development projects. The objective of the program is to control and prohibit community incompatibility.

Three scholarship schemes have been launched for minority communities, namely, Pre-Matric Scholarship 2023 for Minority Students (for class 1 to 10), Post-Matric Scholarship 2023 for Minority Students (for class 11 to Ph.D.) and Undergraduate & Postgraduate Level Scholarship 2023 to provide the quality and resource scholarships for technical and professional courses.

It has been felt that scholarship will encourage parents of minority communities to educate their children. The objective of the scheme is to be empowered through education, which will uplift the socio-economic condition of the minority community.
