MEXT Scholarship 2020 for Teachers by Japanese GovernmentMEXT Scholarship 2023 for Teachers by Japanese Government -: Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has invited applications from qualified teachers for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) Government of Japan Scholarship for teachers engaged in schooling for the academic year 2023. The government of Japan / Embassy of Japan will provide 15 teacher training scholarships to Indian school teachers for the academic session 2023 under the Government of Japan scholarship program. The main objective of this MEXT Scholarship is to make recruitment for primary to senior secondary school teachers of India to research the Japanese education system for eighteen (18) months. This research work will start from October 2023 and the selected scholars will be awarded a scholarship Allowance of 1,43,000 yen per month etc. The detailed information about Teacher Training Students Japan MEXT Scholarship Program 2023 shall be furnished below in the article.

The embassy asked the Ministry of Human Resources to nominate about 50 candidates (KVS: 20, NVS: 20, CBSE:10) who fulfill the eligibility conditions along with their application form with supporting documents.

MEXT Scholarship 2023 for Teachers

Eligibility Criteria 
  • Nationality

Applicants must have the nationality of India.

  • Age:

To be eligible, applicants must be born on after 2nd April 1985.

  • Educational Qualification:

Applicant must have graduated from a recognized university or teacher training institute and serve as a teacher in primary/secondary educational institutions or teacher training institutes (except universities) for a total of five years or more till October 1, 2023. Serving faculty members of higher educational institutions are not eligible for this.

  • Academic and Career Background:

  • Japanese Language Ability:

Applicants must be keen to learn Japanese. Applicants must be interested in Japan and be keen to deepen their understanding of Japan after arriving in Japan. Applicants must also have the ability to do research and adapt to living in Japan.

  • Health:

Candidates must have submitted a Health Certificate in the given format that must be signed by a physician attesting that the candidate has no physical or mental conditions hindering the candidate’s study in Japan.

  • Arrival in Japan:

Applicants must be able to arrive in Japan by the given period between the day two weeks before the course starts and the starting date of course. In the case of the non-availability of applicants during the specified period for any reason, travel expenses to Japan will not be paid.

  • Visa Requirement:

An applicant shall obtain a student visa a the Japanese diplomatic mission located in India and enter Japan with the newly obtain residence status of the Student who can get the MEXT Scholarship.

Amount and Benefits 
  • Allowance

The selected scholars will be provided with an Allowance of 143,000 yen per month with adding Supplemental Regional Allowance of 2000 or 3000 yen per month if scholars studying or conducting research in specially designated regions can get this MEXT Scholarship.

  • Education Fees

MEXT will provide Fees for the Entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at universities.

  • Travel Expenses

In addition to the above, the scholars will get an economy class air ticket from the international airport nearest to the student’s home town to International Airport in Japan and back after the completion of the training course can get this MEXT Scholarship.

  • Period of Scholarship

The period of Teacher Training Students Japan MEXT Scholarship for the completion of the training course should be between October 2023 and March 2023.

How to Apply for MEXT Scholarship

  1. The objective of this MEXT Scholarship is to recruit teachers from primary to higher secondary schools of India who will research the Japanese teaching system. The research will start from October 2023 and will be for 18 months.
  2. The candidates who are desirous to avail this MEXT Scholarship benefits can send their applications through proper channel following the procedure of their respective authority.
  3. The candidates can download the details by going to the Official Website.
  4. Every nomination should be accompanied by a research proposal which has to be attached by email as a PDF file and sent to [email protected]. Candidates will be selected based on their research proposal. The interview and written test will be held on 1 February 2023 in Delhi.
Required Documents 

Candidates must submit the below-mentioned documents to the Japanese Diplomatic Mission on or before the last dates.

  1. Application Form of the Financial year 2023
  2. Placement Preference Application Form of FY 2023
  3. Certified grade transcript for each academic year from the last university or teacher training school attended- Issued by attended University/school /local authority.
  4. The diploma from the last university/teacher training school attended.
  5. Certificate of employment- Issued by the present employer.
  6. Recommendation letter from the immediate supervisor at work.
  7. Medical Certificate
  8. Certificate of Japanese language ability
  9. Applicants must attach his/her latest photograph on the application form.
Selection Criteria 
  1. The candidates will be selected by an evaluation process.
  2. The evaluation process will be based on the candidate’s research proposal, interview, and written test.
  3. The nominated candidates shall be called for the first screening, ie. written test (Japanese and English) and interview in Delhi.
  4. Therefore they are advised to make all necessary arrangements in advance to attend the interview to be held on 1st February 2023.
  5. Candidates who passed the first screening will be recommended by Japanese diplomatic missions to MEXT and will select the applicants successfully passing the second screening.
