- Students doing PhD from any recognized institute can apply for this fellowship.
- Students doing graduation or post graduation can also apply.
- If the student is getting a fellowship or scholarship from another institution, then they will not be able to apply for it.
- The PhD program of the student should continue till the duration of the fellowship or else the fellowship will be canceled.
- Google employees, and their spouses, children, and members of their household are not eligible.

- Indian students will get fellowship for four years.
- About 38 lakh rupees will be received as stipend.
- This will include travel related expenses and other expenses.
- Apart from this, Google Research Mentor will be available.

- Curriculum Vitae of the Applicant along with links to website and publications (if available)
- Available transcripts (mark sheets) starting from first year/semester of Bachelor’s degree to date
- Research proposal -It may not be more than 8 pages
- Letters of recommendation (2-3) from those familiar with the applicant’s work (at least one from the thesis advisor for current PhD students)
- Applicants must write an essay (350-word limit) to: Describe the desired impact your research will make on the field and society, and why this is important to you. Include any personal, educational and/or professional experiences that have motivated your research interests
