National Overseas Scholarship 2023:- The Central Sector Scheme of National Overseas Scholarship for SC etc. candidates is a foreign scholarship for denotified nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes, landless agricultural laborers, and traditional artisans and Indian nationals wandering Scheduled Caste candidates. This scheme gives 100 overseas scholarships to obtain higher education at Masters and Ph.D. level by studying abroad. This scholarship includes the cost of fees and other educational expenses. The interested and eligible candidates can apply for National Overseas Scholarship for SC etc candidates. for the year 2023-24.
In their field of Study, Engineering and Management (32 seats), Pure Sciences and Applied Sciences (17 seats), Agriculture Sciences and Medicine (17 seats), International Commerce Accounting Finance (17 seats), Humanities, social sciences and fine arts (17 seats) are included.
Number of Scholarships
- Scheduled Castes: 90 nos.
- Denotified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Tribes: 6 Nos.
- Landless Agricultural Labourers and Traditional Artisans: 4 Nos.
Eligibility Criteria for National Overseas Scholarship 2023-24
Qualification requirement :
For Ph.D. and Masters– The candidate should obtain a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade in the relevant qualifying examination for Ph.D. And at least 60% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying exam is needed. In the case of Ph.D. Courses, the qualifying exam would be a Masters Degree. For Master’s Degree courses, the qualifying exam would be a Bachelor’s Degree.
Age Requirement :
The candidate’s age should be below 35 (Thirty-Five) years, as on 1st April 2023
Income Ceiling :
The candidate’s family income should not be more than Rs. 8 Lacs (8,00,000/-) per annum from all sources.
Number of Children in a family :
- Only two children of the same parents will be eligible to apply for the National Overseas Scholarship.
- The candidate should submit a self-certification in this regard.
- The candidate applying for the scholarship, his/her parents and siblings below the age of 18 years and also his/ her spouse and children below the age of 18 years
Selection Criteria for National Overseas Scholarship 2023-24:
- The candidates who have already obtained an unconditional offer letter for admission in one of the Universities/Educational Institutions abroad from academic sessions 2023-24 onward may be considered on a first come first serve basis for the award.
- Those candidates can also be a part of the aforesaid scholarship, who are trying to obtain admission in one of the universities/educational institutions abroad, attributed by an authorized body of that student’s country, subject on successful in securing such admission.
- In the case of a tie between two, the candidate who is elder in age as per the date of birth will be provided preference.
Benefits of National Overseas Scholarship 2023-24 :
- The duration of the award for a Ph.D. is Four years and for a Master’s Degree, the duration is three years.
- Once the candidates selected and receiving the scholarship, they have to take admission for the concerned subject within one year of time.
- The selected candidates will be provided with scholarships according to their chosen country for further studies.
Annual Maintenance Allowance

For the United States of America and other countries except for United Kingdom :
The annual maintenance allowance of US Dollars 15400/- (Fifteen Thousand Four Hundred) has been prescribed for all levels of courses covered under the Scheme.

Only for the United Kingdom :
The annual maintenance allowance of 9900/- (Nine Thousand Nine Hundred) Great Britain Pound (GBP) has been prescribed.
Research/Teaching Assistance ship :
The awardees are permitted to increase their prescribed allowances by undertaking Research/Teaching Assistantship.
Annual Contingency Allowance

For the United States of America and other countries except for United Kingdom :
The prescribed contingency allowance for books/essential apparatus /study tour/travel cost for attending subject related conferences, workshops etc./ typing and binding of thesis etc. is US Dollars 1500/- (One Thousand five hundred) per annum.

Only for the United Kingdom :
The prescribed contingency allowance for books/essential apparatus /study tour/travel cost for attending subject related conferences, workshops, etc./ typing and binding of thesis, etc. is Great Britain Pound (GBP) 1100/-(One Thousand One Hundred) per annum.
Other Benefits :
Incidental Journey Allowance & Equipment Allowance is the US $20 or it’s equivalent in Indian Rs. And prescribed equipment allowance of $US 20/- will also be given.
- Poll Tax – Actual will be paid, wherever applicable
- Visa Fees – Actual visa fees in Indian Rupees will be paid to the candidates.
- Tuition Fees – Actual as charged
- Medical Insurance Premium will also be given to the selected candidates.
- Air Passage – The students will also be provided with the Air Passage from India to the nearest place to the educational institution and back to India by economy class.
Application Process for National Overseas Scholarship 2023-24
- The candidates who fulfill all the eligibility conditions can apply online to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment web portal.
- Apply Online nosmsje.gov.in.
- The applicant can apply Online Application to the portal on or before 27th May 2023.
- The online application must be complete in all respects. Only the complete applications will be considered for National Overseas Scholarship
- For this scholarship, nominated authorities in various states like Head of Educational Institutions or District Social Welfare Officer or Directorate of Social Welfare, etc. may be different.
Required Documents for National Overseas Scholarship 2023-24:
- The student must submit the self-attested copies of the below-mentioned documents along with the application form to complete the application process.
- Matriculation or other certificates as proof for date of birth should be submitted by the student
- The applying candidate must submit all Degrees/Diplomas/Certificate with mark sheets,
- Income certificate in the prescribed format is also required with application
- You need to submit the Offer letter of admission if obtained
- The students are also required to submit the Self Attested Photo Copy of Caste Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.
