Center Area Scheme of Scholarship for Colleges and University Students

The National Talent Scholarship Scheme, which was intended to provide financial assistance to talented students studying in government schools/colleges and universities from class XI to post-graduation, has been discontinued from 01.04.2007. However, during the XI Five Year Plan, a new center area scheme of scholarship for college and university students has been started. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to talented students from poor families to meet part of their day-to-day expenses to continue their higher studies.

Scholarship Guidelines

Center Area Scheme of Scholarship is awarded based on the results of the Senior Secondary Examination. 82000 new scholarships (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls) can be offered every year for under / graduate and professional courses in colleges and universities, such as medical, engineering, etc. The total number of scholarships is divided between the state boards by population in the age group population of 18-25 years of the state, after separating the share of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council of School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) in the country. Is divided on the basis of the number of students passing out from various boards.

The number of Center Area Scheme of Scholarship allocated to the boards is 3: 2: for students who pass on the boards of science, commerce, and humanities. Is divided in the ratio of 1. Students who are not availing any other scholarship scheme (not by correspondence or distance education method) regular studies in educational institutions recognized in Class XII or 10 + 2 pattern or equivalent in a successful subject related to special board examination And whose family income is less than 6 lakhs are eligible for consideration under this scheme. It is applicable to students of all categories ‘General’ and ‘Reserved’.

  • Scholarship Amount

The Center Area Scheme of Scholarship rate is Rs.1000 / – at the undergraduate level and Rs.2000 / – at the undergraduate level for the first three years of college and university courses. Students studying vocational courses will get Rs 2000 / – per month in the fourth and fifth years. Scholarships will be awarded for 10 months in an academic year. It is subject to annual renewal based on stringent criteria.

The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for college and university students is covered under Direct Transfer Benefit (DBT). Scholarships are deposited directly into the bank account of the beneficiaries under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program of the Government of India.

The Center Planning Scheme Monitoring System (CPSMS) has been created for the easy operation of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). CPSMS is a web-based operating system that facilitates Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB) and Electronic Clearance Service (ECS) / National Electronic Clearing Service (NECS) / National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) based payments.

Scholarship for the Non-Hindi Speaking States for Post Matric Scholarship for Hindi Study

The objectives of the scheme are to encourage the study of Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states and to provide suitable personnel to the State Governments for teaching and other posts in which knowledge of Hindi is mandatory.

The plan was revised from 2004-05. Education matriculation for Ph.D. level recognized for full-time courses recognized for the study of a subject in Hindi based on the results of the “Next Below Examinations” conducted by the Board of Education or University or Voluntary Hindi Organization under the revised scheme. 2500 scholarships are awarded to talented students of Hindi for studying in Hindi Are The scholarship rates range from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month depending on the course/study stage. Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir
  • J&K Special Scholarship

In 2010, an expert group was set up by the Prime Minister in the context of increasing employment opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir and to prepare a plan for employment involving the public and private sector. One of the important recommendations of the Expert Group was to provide 5000 scholarships per annum over the next five years so that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir State who are studying would be encouraged to study outside the State of Jammu and Kashmir. An outlay of Rs 1200 crores was recommended over the next five years for this initiative. The scheme is being implemented from 2011-12.

Under the scheme, students belonging to Jammu and Kashmir, who are located in Jammu and Kashmir through schools belonging to Jammu and Kashmir Board or Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and who are pursuing general degree courses, engineering, and medicine outside the state of Jammu and Kashmir.   • Scholarship Amount

An Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) headed by Secretary (Higher Education) regularly supervises the implementation of the Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir students. The committee comprises guest representatives from the Government of Jammu and Kashmir as consultants (PAMD), Planning Commission, Representative of the Department of Expenditure and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Department of Science and Technology Representatives are involved.
