Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana 2023 Haryana for SC students
To enable and encourage the students who belong to Scheduled Caste (SC) categories, Welfare of Scheduled Caste & Backward Classes Department, Government of Haryana presenting the Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana. In this scheme, both girls and boys of Scheduled Caste families can avail of this facility and continue and attain their quality education. Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana is launched to provide hostel facilities to scheduled caste boys and girls for secondary schools, high schools, colleges, and universities.
Funding Pattern of Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana Haryana
Hostels for SC Boys :
- The central assistance of 50% to the State Government on matching share bass
- The assistance of 100% to the Union Territory Administration
- The central assistance of 90% to the Central University / Institute
- The central assistance to the State University or Institute is 45%
- NGO / Deemed Universities are provided with the central assistance of 45%
Hostels for SC Girls
- The central assistance of 100% would be granted to the State Government and Union Territory Administration and Central/State Universities or institutions.
- The central assistance of 90% would be granted to the private sectors of NGOs and deemed Universities only for the development of the existing hostel facilities.
Terms and conditions
- Under the Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas Yojana Haryana, central assistance will be granted under the scheme, a one-time grant of Rs 2500 per student will be provided for making provision of a cot, a table and a chair for each student.
- Central assistance is provided only to meet the cost of hostel building and the responsibility of maintenance of such hostel only with the concerned State Government / UT Administration.
- No fee would be chargeable from the SC students for any kind of provisions of hostel facilities which includes water, electricity and maintenance charges, etc.

- The remaining 50 percent will be borne by the state government.
- The remaining 10 percent of the cost will be borne by the University / Institute.
- The remaining 55 percent of the cost will be borne by the University / Institute and the State Government in the ratio of 10:45.
- The remaining 55 percent of the cost will be borne by the NGO / Deemed University and the State Government in the ratio of 10:45.
Eligibility
- Central assistance is provided on the basis of the provision of this scheme, for both new constructions of hostel buildings and expansion of existing hostels for State Governments / Union Territory Administrations, Central, and State Universities / Institutions.
- Under the private sector, the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Deemed Universities will be eligible to apply for the central assistance under the Scheme only for the expansion of existing hostel facilities.
