ASEAN India Research Training Fellowship:- The applications are invited by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India for ASEAN – India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) for the academic session 2023. The students who are having a Master’s Degree in Natural Science or equivalent degree can submit the applications. The selected students of AI-RTF 2023 will be awarded various benefits. Fifty (50) fellowships will be awarded every year to young scientists and researchers from ASEAN member countries to be affiliated with Indian educational and R&D institutions. The fellowship will be given for 2 to 6 months of duration, which is not extendable.

The AI-RTF fellowship scheme is created with various objectives. To promote the mobility of scientists and researchers from ASEAN-member countries in India and provide them an opportunity to work in Indian R&D / academic institutions to upgrade their research skills and expertise. To facilitate the exchange of information and contacts between scientists and researchers from India and ASEAN countries and to create a network for building research cooperation.

  • Other multi-disciplinary areas of science, technology, and innovation in alignment with APASTI.
Eligibility for ASEAN India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) 2023:
  • The nationality of the applicant must be of any member country of ASEAN.
  • The applicant must hold at least a Masters’s degree in any natural science or an equivalent degree in technology/engineering / medical/allied subjects.
  • The applying candidate must be working or studying or affiliated in any national R&D or educational institution in their home ASEAN member country.
  • One of the eligibility conditions is also that the application must be confirmed by his / her Head of Institute that if he/she is selected, he/she will be sanctioned leave for the fellowship period and will return to the institution on completion of the fellowship in India.
  • The applicant ‘s age should not be more than 45 years as on the date of submission of application.
  • The applicant must be fluent in English.
Not Eligible:-
  • The citizens of India are not entitled to apply for the fellowship.
  • Those candidates who have availed any other fellowship or scholarship from Govt. of India during the last 5 years are not entitled to fellowship
  • Research work proposed in India should be linked to any ongoing research project/plan of the Indian host institute.
ASEAN India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) 2023 Amount:

The 50 selected students of AI-RTF 2023 will be awarded financial aid which includes the following.

  • All international travel-related expenses include the Round trip international airfare by excursion/economy class by the shortest route from the international airport in the applicant’s home country to the nearest international airport of the host institution in India, Visa fees, foreign medical insurance, etc.
  • A consolidated Fellowship amount of Rs. 50,000 (INR) per month (non-taxable) against housing, food, and other miscellaneous.
  • Lump-sum grant of Rs. 40,000 / – for a period of 6 months for research contingencies, air travel, domestic travel (by road), and institutional overhead charges for participating in scientific / events and field trips within India @ Rupee. 2,500 / – per month.
ASEAN India Research Training Fellowship (AI-RTF) 2023 Application Process :

The applicants who fulfill all the eligibility conditions are invited to submit their applications online.
The hard copies of the application are required for the same.
For the online submission of the fellowship application, you must have followed the below-mentioned steps.

  • First of all, applicants have to register in the ASEAN Online web site.
  • Once you login to the portal must enter all the details which are necessary for the Profile Detail section under User Profile, including biodata, photos, address of the institute, etc.
  • Enter the details of the proposal such as project title, project summary, keywords, objectives of the project, expected production and result of the proposal, etc. have to be recorded at the time of submission of the proposal.
  • Other relevant information of the proposal has to be uploaded as a single PDF file, not more than 10 MB.

The applicant can apply for an online application and required to enclose some necessary documents.

  • Curriculum Vitae of Applicant
  • Curriculum Vitae of Indian Hosts
  • Submit the copy of relevant pages of a valid passport
  • A copy of a letter of support from the current employer in the prescribed format
  • A copy of acceptance letter from any Indian scientist/institute, if selected, to host the applicant
