Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship 2023
Aga Khan Foundation is here to announce to give Aga Khan Scholarship or International Scholarship Programme to the outstanding students for the academic year 2023. Every year it gives a number of scholarships to the students who cannot fund their own education for pursuing full-time postgraduate studies from developing countries. The last date of the Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship 2023 application process, submitting the completed application is 20 March 2023. The application form for the Aga Khan Scholarship can be taken from the AKF office or AKF Education Service Board. The last date to get the application form is 13 March 2016.
The Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship 2023 applications are accepted from the Students of Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, and Mozambique. In France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada, the candidates who have no other means of financing their education are eligible to apply for these scholarships to undertake a postgraduate program
The Scholarship is also offered for Ph.D. programs if the student is exceptionally talented and requires a Ph.D. for fulfilling his/her career objectives. The candidate must also be recommended by his/her professors for carrying out doctoral studies.
The scholarship will be in the form of a 50% grant and 50% loan to students belonging to the selected developing countries mentioned above.
For Ph.D. candidates, the funding will be provided only for the first two years of the study

Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who are eligible nationals from the above-mentioned countries can apply for the scholarship.
- Candidates applying for studies in the UK, USA, Canada, Portugal, and France will be accepted if they are interested in development-related studies and cannot finance their education.
- Students who cannot finance their own education will be eligible for the scholarship.
- The candidates who are below 30 years of age are given preference.
- The candidate may be expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest.
- Applications for short-term courses are not considered for the scholarship program.
- Students who have already started their course of study are not eligible to apply for the Aga Khan Scholarship program.
Benefits/Award
- Aga Khan Scholarship would be given as 50% in the form of a Grant and 50% in the form of a Loan.
- The selected candidates of the Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship would be given a grant as follows.
- Funding for Ph.D. programs is only provided for the first two years of study, after which the students are expected to find alternative sources of assistance.
- The students will also receive the tuition and accommodation expenses under the AKF scholarship.
- All the expenses related to travel to the institution and back to the home country will be borne by the applicants itself. The foundation will not reimburse this amount.
- Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources.
Conditions for Disbursal of the Loan
Annual Service Charge: Half of the scholarship is granted as a loan. Candidates are required to repay the same at an annual service charge of 5%.
Guarantor: A guarantor is required to act as a co-signer to the loan agreement.
Payback period: Students have to repay the loan within 5 years beginning after 6 months of completion of the study period.

The candidates who are interested and eligible can get the application forms of Aga Khan International Scholarship 2023 from the AKF offices or Aga Khan Education Services / Boards present in their respective countries.

The candidates can submit the duly completely filled application forms at the office from which the candidate has obtained the form.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates for the Aga Khan Scholarship will be done on the following criteria:
- Consistently outstanding academic record.
- Admission into a prestigious university for full-time postgraduate study.
- Importance of the field of study in question in relation to the focus areas of the Aga Khan Development Network.
- The candidate who has some years of work experience will get the preference.
Important: The candidates should choose for this only if he/she is unable to find any other source of funding for the education. But preference is given to those candidates who have obtained partial funding from other sources.
- After the shortlisting of the application form, the shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview held by local Scholarship Committees.
- The annual Scholarship Selection Meeting takes place in late June or early July and the Aga Khan Foundation announces the result of all students shortly thereafter.
- The selected candidate’s list will be sent to Geneva for the final selection process at the Annual Scholarship Selection Meeting to be held in late June or early July 2016.
New update =>The 2023 International Scholarship Program application cycle is open from 1 January 2023 to 31 March 2023. During this time period, the application form can be obtained from the Aga Khan Foundation or Aga Khan Education Board / Service Office in the applicant’s country of current residence.
Note: For the 2023 application cycle, the Foundation will not accept applications from students planning to attend universities in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Norway, and Ireland.
